Dai Hongcai, courtesy name Shantong, is a national first-class calligrapher. He is a director of the Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee of the China National Architecture Research Association, a director of the Chinese Calligraphers' Association and the New Literary and Artistic Groups Calligraphy and Painting Working Committee, and an executive director of the Calligraphy Art Research Committee of the Yinglian Society of China. As an expert in calligraphy and painting, he also serves as an executive director of the Contemporary Chinese Artists Association and the Chinese Photographers Association. Dai is recognized as a National Gift Artist and is a member of the Jilin branch of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
Currently, he holds several key positions, including Vice President of the Chinese Calligraphy and Art Research Institute, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, and honorary president of both the Macau Belt and Road Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Promotion Association and the Macau Taoli Arts Association. He is also the Executive Vice Chairman of the Changbai Mountain Calligraphy Institute in Baishan City, honorary president of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Union, and honorary president of the World Economic Development News Agency.
Additionally, Dai is an academician at the China Century Grand Art Collection Calligraphy Academy, Beijing Taihu Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and Beijing Great Wall Calligraphy Academy. He is the Vice President of the World Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Institute, an art judge for the CCTV Online Program Committee, and the Deputy Director of the China Radio International Cultural Tourism International Cooperation Development Center.
In 2001, Dai Hongcai received the ISO900A international artist qualification certification, earning the title of internationally renowned calligrapher. In 2016, the National Culture and Arts Qualification Certification Center approved him as a famous calligrapher. His calligraphy works have won more than 90 awards, including special prizes and gold medals in national and international exhibitions, and have been displayed in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Dubai, as well as in Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Great Hall of the People, the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, the Bird's Nest, and the Beijing International Exhibition Center in China. His piece celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party was selected as a national gift and is permanently preserved by the Chinese History Museum and the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. His work Integrity Wins the World is permanently housed in the Bird's Nest, while Building a Beautiful China, Realizing the Dream of the Nation is in the collection of China Central Television (CCTV). Another piece, From the Founding Ceremony to the Dream of a Strong Nation, Let the World Witness the Broad Mind of a Great Nation, was chosen as the design for the Brilliant China National Gift Red Porcelain General Bottle, made by the porcelain factory used by President Mao Zedong. This artwork was created as a grand national gift for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Dai Hongcai's calligraphy has been published in over 70 national anthologies of calligraphy masterpieces, and he has released personal collections, including The Great Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Master: Dai Hongcai, Figures of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Heritage: Dai Hongcai, Top Figures in Chinese Calligraphy and Painting: Dai Hongcai, Masters of the Century: Dai Hongcai, The Selected Works of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphers: Dai Hongcai, and The Selected Works of Renowned Chinese Artists of the Golden Era: Dai Hongcai. His work Monopoly is the Shackle of Humanity, Hegemony is the Enemy of the World was featured in Tribute to My Country: Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the National Day Military Parade, and his works Belt and Road Cooperation, Harmony for Progress, Inclusivity for Nurturing All Living Things and China Will Never Seek Hegemony were included in The National Business Card of Belt and Road Countries, a book distributed to leaders of Belt and Road nations. In 2021, his work The Great Rejuvenation was published by the China National Gift Publishing House as a national gift to friendly countries. In 2022, his piece The Long March: A Great Chapter in the Glorious Victory of the Chinese Nation was featured in the 16th issue of Chinese Elite, and multiple works appeared in special editions of Reporting to the Nation: A Tribute to the Two Sessions, including People's Art Representatives and A Tribute to the 20th National Congress: Always Following the Party.
In addition to his artistic contributions, Dai Hongcai has actively participated in public welfare, donating over 200,000 yuan to support the elderly, disabled, students, and the poor. In 2018, he was honored at the International Chinese Public Welfare Ceremony and received commendations from CCTV and national leaders. His calligraphy works and achievements have been reported by various media outlets, including China International News, Phoenix News, CCTV, People's Daily, and numerous art publications. He has been recognized as one of the "Top 100 Chinese Calligraphers" and one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Calligraphers of Virtue in China." He has also received numerous titles, such as "Lifetime Achievement Artist of Contemporary China," "Outstanding Artist of the Chinese Nation," "Top Ten Red Calligraphy Artists of the Republic," and "Patriotic Calligrapher for the Inheritance of Red Culture." In 2020, CCTV honored him with the "Chinese Pride: Outstanding Artist" award, and in 2022, he was invited to participate in the Focus Interview Art Figures program, which highlighted his artistic career. In the same year, Xinhua News Agency published an article titled Forging Ahead: Renowned Artist Dai Hongcai to promote his artistic achievements. In 2022, the United Nations Chinese National Gift Collection and Appreciation Committee awarded him the honorary title of Hua Xia Calligraphy, Glorious Chinese Merit. In January 2023, his works were selected for the National Cultural Soft Power Dissemination Platform and published by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House, earning him the title of "National Master, Preeminent Artist." In September 2023, his calligraphy piece Snow in the Garden was permanently archived in the National Treasure Archives.
