Tian Qingjiang, born in 1950, a Han Chinese, is a native of Changle, Shandong Province. He is a member of the Communist Party of China with a college diploma, specializing in calligraphy, and worked as a middle school teacher. He currently resides in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province.
• Executive Director of the Talent Committee of the China Cultural Information Association and Guest Researcher;

Tian Qingjiang has had a passion for writing since childhood, influenced and guided by his father (Tian Baoshun, a retired cadre from the Shijiazhuang Army Command College and a military calligrapher). During his school years, he was often invited to write slogans, banners, awards, and couplets for various units. After starting work, he began participating in calligraphy exhibitions organized by the county and related departments. In 1986, he enrolled in the Department of Calligraphy at the Chinese Correspondence University of Calligraphy, studying under renowned calligraphy educators such as Ouyang Zhongshi. Under the guidance of teacher Xu Jingcheng, he systematically learned calligraphy theory and techniques, exploring various script styles, including regular, cursive, clerical, seal, and running scripts, from which he greatly benefited and embarked on his journey into the art of calligraphy. After retirement, he joined Hebei Senior University, apprenticing under Zhao Zengyun. Rooted in tradition and inspired by classical techniques, he pursued innovation while adhering to tradition. His running script follows the style of Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, and his regular script traces back to Wei Stele inscriptions. Striving to balance form and spirit, he achieves harmony without monotony, blending elegance and simplicity. His style embodies a balance of light and heavy strokes, with skillful spacing, blending stillness and movement, strength and gentleness, resulting in a unique fusion of running and regular script. Tian Qingjiang has participated in numerous national, provincial, and municipal exhibitions, receiving high praise from teachers and students alike.
The renowned calligrapher Xu Jingcheng gave him the following evaluation.
“His brushwork is vigorous but not wild, his structure rigorous but not rigid, his posture elegant but not overly decorative, his strokes smooth but not superficial. It embodies the principle of ‘the brush does not move in vain, every stroke has a purpose.’ He stands firm amidst the impetuous trends of contemporary calligraphy, untainted by errant influences, resisting current maladies — truly a rarity.”
